Stargate (1994) Planet hopping

Before i watched Stargate, i will be honest, i was not looking forward to it. I was imaging it to be a cheap effect boring tv show like i had seen before on tv. However, this movie was surprisingly decent. The movie had a confusing and somewhat leaves loose ends. Although it is enjoyable and entertaining, it tends to be a little confusing and cliche. The setting seems like and egypt style but on another planet. This part would have to be the whole relationship between the Egyptian god Rah, and the aliens. In this movie, Rah is an alien that uses humans to live forever. Throughout the quest of a dorky scientist and a group of soldiers to get back to to earth, they must battle Rah and her (yes her) minions. Their journey is filled with decent special effects and fight scenes. I've seen better but they do entertain you. One of the good qualities of the movie was the acting. The acting was very realistic and you could, in a way, share emotions with the characters. Overall, a decent movie at best, but a good sci-fi movie to watch if you get the chance.

Special Effects Realism: 6/10
Acting conveyance of emotion: 8/10
Environment originality: 5/10
Complex storyline: 7/10

Overall: 26/40

With minor cliche parts in the plot, decent special effects and a rather boring environment, Stargate only gets a decent grade. It could be good for a last resort sic-fi film however!
